RECOVER to share clinical trial updates at July 2026 webinars

During 2 webinars held in July, RECOVER researchers and leaders will discuss its 2 clinical trial programs, including results to date and what it means to take part in a trial.

In July 2026, the RECOVER Initiative will host 2 clinical trial webinars, which will provide updates on the initiative’s ongoing work to test the safety and effectiveness of possible Long COVID treatments.

Through these webinars, members of the Long COVID and scientific communities and the public can learn about the processes in place to ensure clinical trial safety and what it is like to take part in a clinical trial. Attendees can also learn about available clinical trial results, including how those results are shaping the next phase of research.

Clinical trials are one way RECOVER advances Long COVID science, working with people who have Long COVID, caregivers, advocates, researchers, and healthcare providers to identify possible treatments, design meaningful trials, and enroll study participants from different backgrounds and all walks of life. To date, there are no treatments for Long COVID approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

RECOVER is currently conducting Long COVID clinical trials through 2 programs. Each of the upcoming webinars will focus on sharing updates from one of the programs.

  • July 14: The first phase of RECOVER clinical trials—the RECOVER Clinical Trials (RECOVER-CT) program—launched in 2023. Patients, researchers, and clinicians worked together to design 8 clinical trials, which tested 13 possible treatments in adults across 5 types of symptoms.
  • July 16: The next phase of RECOVER clinical trials—RECOVER-Treating Long COVID (RECOVER-TLC)—builds on the work and results from RECOVER-CT and other Long COVID studies, testing additional possible treatments for a range of Long COVID symptoms in adults, adolescents, and children.

Together, these 2 webinars will show how clinical trial findings can impact Long COVID treatment and care.

Webinar 1: RECOVER-CT webinar

RECOVER clinical trial results and the pursuit of Long COVID treatments
Tuesday, July 14, 2026, 12:00-1:30 pm ET

Part of the R3 Seminar Series, this webinar will explore findings from 2 RECOVER-CT clinical trials—the RECOVER-NEURO and RECOVER-AUTONOMIC (Ivabradine) studies. These trials focused on treating Long COVID symptoms related to thinking, memory, and the autonomic nervous system—the system that controls automatic body functions like heart rate and blood pressure.

Clinical trial results can provide a treatment map for researchers and healthcare providers. Both positive results (results that confirm a treatment works) and null results (results that show a treatment doesn’t work) are essential building blocks of scientific progress, helping researchers ask better questions and design better studies to find treatments that improve people’s lives.

The webinar will also explore how RECOVER researchers designed these clinical trials with input from Patient, Caregiver, and Community Representatives and how the Long COVID community helped shape the studies from the start. Presenters will share findings from a survey that included RECOVER Representatives and discuss how these lessons are helping build more inclusive and effective trials.

Presenters joining the webinar include Marta Cerda, JD (RECOVER Patient Representative); David Knopman, MD (Mayo Clinic); Renee Leverty, MA, BSN (Duke Clinical Research Institute); and Pam R. Taub, MD (University of California San Diego Health System).

Webinar 2: RECOVER-TLC webinar

Clinical trial overview with Foundation for National Institutes of Health (FNIH)
Thursday, July 16, 2026, 1:00-2:00 pm ET

This webinar aims to help people make informed decisions about taking part in a RECOVER-TLC clinical trial. Understanding how a trial is designed and run can help people weigh the potential benefits and risks of joining a study. RECOVER-TLC’s 4 trials start enrollment this year, with 1 trial—the REVERSE-LC study—already enrolling participants at 17 study sites across the United States.

Leaders from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) will describe the clinical trial process, including how clinical trials work, the steps researchers take to ensure the safety of study participants, and how clinical trial results can help patients and healthcare providers make decisions about Long COVID treatment and care.

As part of the webinar, RECOVER-TLC will provide updates on its 4 planned trials and the treatments selected, with a question-and-answer session to follow. Anyone can submit questions for NIAID and FNIH in advance.

Webinar recordings and resources

For anyone unable to attend one or both events, recordings will be posted online following the webinars.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), through its institutes and centers, also publishes resources to help people understand clinical trials.
