Sharing science to understand Long COVID

RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar Series

The goal of the R3 Seminar Series is to share the RECOVER Initiative’s research findings with researchers and the public. These seminars accelerate scientific discovery by allowing experts to share their latest insights on Long COVID and related conditions. Some R3 sessions also inform the public about other research on Long COVID. You can find recordings of all R3 Seminar sessions in the Previous Seminars section below.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Sleep

During the August 23rd RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented on the clinical spectrum of PASC with a focus on sleep. Presenters discussed our current understanding of sleep disturbances in PASC patients, the gaps in our knowledge, and how RECOVER will contribute to filling these knowledge gaps.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Mental Health

During the August 9th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented the effects of COVID-19 on mental health in both adults and children, including brain changes and mental health issues. Presenters discussed what is known about these effects and how COVID-19 can cause mental health problems.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Sex Differences in PASC

During the July 26th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented on sex-specific differences in how people experience COVID-19 and PASC. Presenters discussed the impact of COVID-19 on gynecologic health, male infertility, hormones, sexual dysfunction, and the placenta.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Metabolism and Gastrointestinal Function

During the July 12th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented on metabolism and gastrointestinal function in PASC. The seminar explored what is known about this topic, the gaps in our knowledge, and how RECOVER will contribute to filling these gaps.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Cardio-Pulmonary Function

During the June 28th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented cardiopulmonary functions in PASC. Presenters explored what is known about cardiac function in PASC patients, the gaps in our knowledge, and how RECOVER will contribute to filling these knowledge gaps.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Neuro-cognitive Function

During the June 14th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented on the clinical spectrum of PASC with a focus on neurocognitive function. Presenters discussed the current understanding of neurocognitive function in PASC patients, the gaps in our knowledge, and how RECOVER will contribute to filling these knowledge gaps.

Leveraging EHR/Real World Data to Understand PASC

During the May 24th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented on using electronic health records and real-world data to understand PASC. Presenters discussed how this data can be used to improve diagnosis and treatment of PASC.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Dysautonomia

During the May 10th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented dysautonomia and its connection to PASC, including diagnosis, treatment and recent research findings. Presenters discussed what is known about dysautonomia and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), treatment strategies, and how PASC can cause dysautonomia.

Clinical Spectrum of PASC: Focus on Pediatrics, including MIS-C

During the April 26th RECOVER Research Review (R3) Seminar, researchers presented on COVID-19 in children, including MIS-C (multi-inflammatory syndrome in children). Presenters discussed what is known about this topic, the gaps in our knowledge, and how RECOVER will contribute to filling these gaps.
